YOUNG DEMOCRATS
OF WARD 6
The Young Dems of Ward 6, a committee of the Ward 6 Democrats, serves as the gateway to Democratic politics in Ward 6 for young activists and professionals ages 36 and under. Launched winter of 2020, the Young Dems of Ward 6 has three primary goals:

Empower participants as educated activists in Ward 6 through issue sessions, training opportunities, and mentorship led by established political and Democratic Party leaders,

Foster a diverse community of volunteers and activists to expand get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts and support Democratic Party candidates, and
-
Recruit and develop future leaders in the Ward 6 Dems, DC Young Dems, and the DC Democratic Party.

In 2021, the Young Dems of Ward 6 established the Young Dems of Ward 6 Steering Committee. The committee organizes programming aimed at engaging Young Dems in Ward-level activities across the Ward.
During 2021, the committee hosted monthly in-person and virtual events focused on connecting young leaders with political and policymakers in the Ward and each other. These events included:

Virtual “Issue Session” series featuring Commissioner Amber Gove (Chair, ANC 6A), the District Task Force Jails & Justice, Bo Shuff or DC Vote, Raffi Freedman-Gurspan of All on the Line

Happy Hour with Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen

#DemocratsCare community service events with beautification and eldercare philanthropies

The launch of the “Meet Your ANC” series featuring Ward 6 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners Corey Holman, Alison Horn, and more coming.

Open virtual workshops with Young Dems in the Ward to guide future programming and issues
