Ward 6 Efforts: Election Results in DC & Beyond

DC Election Results

City-wide, we voted 90.24% for Harris-Walz, by far the largest margin in the entire US, and only a slight drop from the 92.15% that went Biden-Harris in 2020.

In Ward 6, we showed up and showed out, as we do! Results from the DC Board of Elections as of Saturday night, November 9:

  • Ward 6 went 88.87% for Harris-Walz, only a slight drop from the 90.15% that went Biden-Harris in 2020

  • 72.42% of registered voters in Ward 6 voted this year, second only to Ward 3 (78.09%) and virtually tied with Ward 2 (72.54%)

  • 47,861 ballots were cast in Ward 6, the highest number in any Ward in the city (Ward 5 was second, with 44,749)

In local election results:

  • Eleanor Holmes Norton won re-election as non-voting Delegate to the US House of Representatives

  • Ankit Jain won election as Shadow U.S. Senator

  • Oye Owolewa won re-election as Shadow U.S. Representative

  • Robert White and Christina Henderson won re-election as At-Large Councilmembers

  • I83 passed overwhelmingly (although there are still some hurdles it must clear to be implemented for the 2026 election)

Ward 6 and Blue Wave GOTV Results OUTSIDE DC

Ward 6 also showed up and showed out to encourage Democrats outside DC to vote.

  • DC Dems sent 4,000 postcards to voters in swing states (Ward 6 volunteers didn’t do them all, but we contributed a lot!)

  • DC Dems sent more than 19,000 AFL-CIO Working America letters to union households in swing states (again, Ward 6 volunteers didn’t do them all, but we contributed a lot!)

  • DC Dems knocked more than 12,000 doors in Pennsylvania on October 19 alone, as part of nearly two months of sending cars and buses of canvassers every weekend

  • Although we were not ultimately successful in our efforts to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, we were successful in two of the key down ballot races we targeted; Eugene Vindman in the House (VA-07) and Angela Alsobrooks (MD) in the Senate

As our chair, Elizabeth Engel, tweeted from our account on Wednesday, November 6: "Eternal gratitude to every volunteer in Ward 6 (and all the other Wards) for everything you put into this election. We're all reeling today - be gentle with yourself and others - but DC volunteers left it all on the field, and we couldn't be more proud of you."
