Run for ANC in Ward 6

With the primaries over, the DC Board of Elections is now accepting petitions for candidates for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners (ANCs). Advisory Neighborhood Commissions are the frontline, hyperlocal, non-partisan elected representatives who represent Single Member Districts (SMDs) of roughly 2000 neighbors.

As of July 25, there are 18 seats across Ward 6 with NO candidate who's filed to run. Interested candidates must file, collect their signatures, and submit their ballot access materials no later than Wednesday, August 7th, at 5:00 p.m.

Many Ward 6 Dems have run and served in the past to help represent the values and interests of their neighborhoods while providing extensive community services, and Ward 6 Dems have hosted "Meet Your ANC" events across all five Commissions in the Ward.

Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner roles are great ways to serve your community, learn more about how the District of Columbia government works, build relationships with DC agency leads and Councilmembers, and advocate for solutions from DC government and relevant federal agencies that work for you and your neighbors.

If you want to learn more about running, visit www.dcboe.org/Elections/2024-Elections/ or email candidate@dcboe.org. If you want to hear more about the experience of serving, contact Matt LaFortune or Frank Avery, two former Ward 6 Dems officers who are currently serving as ANCs in ANC 6B.
