On Thursday, April 20, the Young Dems of Ward 6 and Young Dems of Ward 2 committees co-hosted the final session in their housing affordability series, a panel discussion that focused on solutions to the crisis.
Panelists included:
Alex Baca (DC Policy Director, Greater Greater Washington)
Leonard Edwards (Advocate, Bread for the City)
Will Merrifield (Founder and Executive Director, The Center for Social Housing)
Sheila Reid (Owner, Avanti Real Estate Services)
Moderator: Jamal Holtz (President, DC Young Dems)
The conversation was lively and wide-ranging, covering issues related to renting and owning; social housing; land use; the role and impact of the city, developers, and investors; and housing as a key component of more comprehensive anti-poverty work.
